INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF STUDY

Pupils cannot learn and teachers cannot teach in a chaotic environment. Therefore, teachers must deal effectively with pupils’ misbehavior and promote pupil self-control so everyone can meet their emotional

needs and academic goals.

All teachers have management challenges. How they deal with pupils’ behavioral choices depends on their educational philosophy and their preferred management approach.

Most teachers harbor concerns about their abilities to manage pupils’ behavior. These concerns might be well-founded because teachers, administrators, parents, and students report that misbehavior often interferes with the ability of a teacher to teach

and with the ability of pupils to learn (Charles, 2002; Evertson, Emmer, & Worsham, 2003; Gallup & Elam, 1988). Although such reports suggest that there are serious management and discipline problems in the public schools, it would be a mistake to assume that pupils are out of control.

STATEMENT OF RESEARCH PROBLEM

The range of observation in this study has been systematized in such a way that every aspect of information and material concerning techniques used by secondary school teachers in controlling pupils’ classroom undesirable behaviors is consulted.

However, one thing seems to be setting this work apart from others already down by researchers. The research data and materials for the work are very ultimate.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

This study is aimed at the following

The objective is to examine the techniques used by secondary school teachers in controlling pupils’ classroom undesirable behaviors.

The study aimed at identifying the techniques that have mega impact on the pupils. To find out the rate of those pupils influenced by the techniques used by the secondary school teachers.

Another objective of this study is to know the efforts of the Nigeria ministry of education to enhance and modify classroom management techniques for efficient and effective productivity, and also to know the commission set up by the ministry of education to find a lasting solution to the problems.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study is very important in many aspects because the future of Nigeria is in the hands of the pupils which could be threatened by an in-effective education at the primary levels.

Also if the potential of these groups are effectively harnessed, it focuses the mind of the pupils towards things that will bring peace and progress to the nation,and also create a platform for a better nation and economy.

RESEARCH QUESTION
Are the pupils classroom behavior affected by the teacher’s classroom management techniques.
Is there any measure taken to avoid the effect of pupils’ undesirable classroom behaviours.
Does parent play, any role to avoid the pupils’ classroom undesirable behaviours.

RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

In this study, the following hypothesis were tested.

HI: Classroom management techniques have a significant effect on pupils’ classroom behaviors.

HO: Classroom management techniques do not have a significant effect on pupils’ classroom behaviors.

H2: The Nigeria ministry of education is taking some effective measures to reduce the effect of pupils’ undesirable behaviors on their academic performance.

HO: The Nigeria ministry of education is not taking some effective measures to reduce the effect of pupils’ undesirable behaviors on their academic performance.

H3: Research have found out that parent play a role to avoid the display of undesirable behaviours in classrooms by their children.

HO: Research have found out that parents do not play a role to avoid the display of undesirable behaviours in classrooms by their children.
